As one of the largest OEM suppliers of clutch systems, Valeo has been shaping the market for decades – one in three European vehicles is equipped with a Valeo clutch. Based on this experience, the company also develops state-of-the-art systems for dual-clutch transmissions: both double dry clutches (DDC), as used in DCT transmissions from Hyundai and Kia, for example, and powerful double wet clutches (DWC), which will be used by manufacturers such as Renault, Alpine, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW, and Mini from 2015 onwards.

Dual-mass flywheels (DMF) provide more consistent power transmission and greater driving comfort. Every second vehicle rolling off the assembly line is equipped with a dual-mass flywheel – and the trend is rising. The dual-mass flywheel filters out dynamic vibrations between the engine and transmission. Thanks to the two independent flywheels, which are connected to each other via a bearing or bushing and a damping system, the DMF protects the sensitive transmission and the rest of the vehicle from engine vibrations and increases driving comfort.

Valeo torque converters impress with their compact design and optimized weight. They offer high efficiency and decoupling performance for better fuel economy, as well as high torque amplification for good starting performance. The optimized hydraulic performance improves driving performance, while the wide lock-up range helps reduce CO₂ emissions. At the same time, the NVH performance of the powertrain is improved.
